Meet Manifa, our newest Harsanik bride! Manifa and Emin recently got engaged with an adorable and creative proposal and will be getting married on June 22, 2019. We're thrilled to announce that we'll be featuring Manifa as our next Bride's Story blogger! In the past, we've featured Talar and Serj, Christine and Victor, and our very own Marineh and Shant as they shared all the details of their wedding planning adventures. We're so excited to follow Manifa and Emin on their journey! As the couple counts down, Manifa will be sharing their love story, the proposal, and all the details of their wedding planning on our Bride's Story blog series.
So let's get started! Meet Manifa and Emin and find out how it all started:
Hello my name is Manifa and I am happy to announce that I am getting married! Isn't that just the happiest sentence in the world? Although being a bride is probably my favorite job, I am actually a middle school English teacher and grad student at Pepperdine University. Yes, I'm your typical teacher type. I love to write, read, and study. School is where I feel most comfortable; aside from being in the arms of my fiancé. Some things about myself? Well I am a Gemini to my core. I love to work out, dance, sleep, and go on crazy adventures with the people I love. Lucky for me I met the man of my dreams to share this all with.
My fiancé, Emin, is out of this world amazing. He is one of those rare guys you meet that everyone genuinely falls in love with. I am so lucky to have him by my side. He is extremely supportive and pushes me to be the best person I can possibly be. I couldn't possibly go through my Ph.D. program and plan a wedding without him. He is very creative and I love that he wants to be a big part of our wedding planning. He pays very close attention to all the little details that will make our wedding extra special. Emin really enjoys playing basketball, driving his car, and gambling. His love for gambling is the reason behind how he proposed to me, but that's a whole other story.
Emin and I met, well technically met, when we were little kids, but officially we "re-met" at a 401 Studio party where Emin doubted my writing skills. He actually made me sit in the office of the studio and write him a two-page paper about happiness while there was a party going on right outside the door. Safe to say I rocked that essay and impressed the guy because eight years later here we are getting married.
As cliché as it is to say this; I knew from the start that Emin and I were going to be together forever. I wasn't certain we would get married, but I knew that he was a person that would be by my side for the rest of my life. Our journey together started out as best friends and I value that relationship over everything. It is my core belief that our relationship has been so amazing because we put our friendship first. After five years of being best friends, we decided together that we should see if we had something special and behold here we are two years later, happier than can be. When people ask me how long Emin and I have been together I always say eight years because genuinely I have loved, cared for, and respected this man from the first time he smiled at me!
Another cliché Emin and I follow is the fact that we are complete opposites. I am extremely hyper, outgoing, and talkative while he tends to be a lot more calm, relaxed, and soft spoken. He is like my conscious; making sure I am grounded and not going crazy with all the thoughts in my head, while I make sure he lets loose and has a little bit of fun. We are attached at the hip and do pretty much everything together. The one thing we do have in common is our love for Electric Dance Music (EDM). Like they say, "Couples who rave together, stay together." Emin and I really enjoy going to raves and music events. We started a tradition where we go to the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) every three years and at least one smaller festival a year. It is always a very special moment when a song we both love is being played and we get to let loose and dance until our feet hurt. This love for EDM is definitely going to show at our wedding. We have already started planning to have intense music, crazy lights shows, and lasers at our wedding.
One of mine and Emin's biggest passions is cars! We both enjoy driving and working on cars together. I have grown up around cars my whole life. My uncle was a mechanic. My dad was a truck driver so being around cars was a normal thing for me. I learned how to change my own tire at a young age and Emin has actually taught me how to change my own car's oil and breaks. I actually enjoy spending a few hours under a hood of a car with the man I love. For Emin, his car is his number one priority. Yes, you read that correctly! I did not make a typo; I said and meant number one! The longest running joke we have with everyone who knows us is that Emin would choose his car over me in a heartbeat. I love him for loving his car so much. He takes such good care of it and it shows that this man takes care of the things he loves and there is no doubt in my mind that he loves me.
Emin and I are just starting our journey to becoming husband and wife and I am very excited to be able to share all the ups and downs for all the brides and future brides who are looking for some advice during such a hectic yet special time in their lives. I know wedding planning is not going to be easy. I've already gotten a taste of it and its tough. But I also know it is going to be a lot of fun doing everything and sharing it with the world. I hope that my story will help just one bride when it comes to hers. I am so impatient to become Emin's wife and share the rest of my life with him! I am also ecstatic to be planning a wedding and I cannot wait to share this journey and special day with everyone on Harskanik.com!
