MANIFA'S STORY: MY WEDDING DRESS

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have been waiting forever to write this blog. Time for Wedding Dress Shopping!!!  For anyone who is named Emin, you must stop reading here. Everyone else, please continue!

I’m not even going to lie, I went dress shopping very early. Like a week after I was proposed to early. What can I say? I’ve never tried on a wedding dress before and I had been dreaming about my wedding dress since I was like five! Before I made any appointments, I called one of my closest friends, Taleen, and asked her where she got her wedding gown. Of course, it was none other than the famous Karoza Bridal. So, the first appointment I made was there. I asked my mom and mother-in-law to come with me. I knew that they would both be straight forward with their opinions and advice.

When we got to Karoza my whole body was shaking with excitement. I had done my homework ahead of time and went in with a list of dresses I knew I wanted to try on. Karla was my dress expert and she told me I could go into the showroom and pick out some dresses while she pulled the ones I had written down. From here my mom, Emin’s mom, and I split up and just started pulling dresses like crazy. My mom really wanted to see me in a satin gown, while Emin’s mom wanted to see me in a mermaid dress. I just pulled whatever looked romantic and whimsical.

MANIFA'S STORY: SELECTING OUR DJ

Hello readers! I hope you all enjoyed my Trndez blog. Let me update you all on how wedding planning is going. I’m super excited to be writing about this next vendor.

What are the three most important things during wedding planning?

  1. Photo/Video: You want to hire the best crew so that they can capture your special day. At end of it, all that is left is the memories.
  2. Banquet Hall: This is going to be home to your guests for almost 6 hours. It needs to big enough and comfortable enough to accommodate everyone.
  3. MUSIC: Especially for an Armenian wedding, your music needs to be ON POINT to keep your guests dancing and having fun.

Armenian Wedding Dancing at Taglyan

For Emin and I, hiring the right DJ was one of the most serious tasks. The one thing we both wanted was to make sure our wedding was like a rave; non-stop, AMAZING music, and our guests would never sit down. We had to have the right DJ who could, not only, get the party started, but keep the party going all night long. We need someone with a lot of knowledge on Armenian and Persian music, as well as Latin and EDM. Incorporating “rave music” into our wedding is a must. For this task, I decided we would only meet with three DJs. Whoever we felt understood what we wanted for our wedding would be hired. Before I chose which three DJs would get an interview, I used Harsanik.com to make a list of potential people we could hire. I went through the list of DJs and whoever had the most positive reviews got on the list. Then I started calling. After talking to a bunch of DJs I picked our top 3...

MANIFA'S STORY: TRNDEZ 2018

Hello and Happy Trndez everyone! Well it’s a few days after, but still! I am so excited to be sharing this blog with you all. As many of you know Emin and I haven’t really participated in many Armenian traditions so when it came to celebrating Trndez we really wanted to make it all so authentic.

When we first got engaged my mother in law asked me if I wanted her to bring me a bajeen. This is the little gifts her and her family bring for me on certain holidays. I really didn’t care for any of them except Trndez. What is Trndez you all ask? Well it’s a holiday to celebrate new brides that is celebrated on the eve of February 13th or sometimes in the morning of February 14th. Usually the bride’s family invites the groom’s family to their house and the groom’s family brings some special foods and gifts for the bride. The bride and groom go to church together and bring home a candle which they use to light a fire. Once the fire is lit they walk around it three times and then jump over the fire three times. Doing this blesses them with a happy marriage.

MANIFA'S STORY: OUR WEDDING THEME

Hello and Happy New Year fellow brides. I’m sorry I have been a little M.I.A. with the blogs lately. I have been dealing with a lot of family stuff since Christmas. I hope all of you were able to enjoy the holidays. Why don’t we just dive right in and get started?

So, as you read in my last blog, Emin and I selected our reception and ceremony venue. Even though many people say choosing a banquet hall is the biggest decision you have to make, I have to say I don’t agree. For Emin and I deciding on the theme of our wedding was the most important decision. I will say this however, making this decision was surprisingly very easy.

One thing I think everyone should know about me is that I am a very creative person. I’ve always been one of those girls that had the completely decked out and designed folders at school. I used to have my own business on Etsy where I created bedazzled glass decorations. I have designed and sewn all of mine and Emin's Halloween and rave costumes, from SCRATCH! My brain is always on D.I.Y. overload. Naturally, when I got engaged, everyone knew I would come up with some crazy creative idea for my wedding theme/colors. Surprisingly Emin was the one who actually triggered the idea.

MANIFA'S STORY: OUR WEDDING VENUE

I’m back and ready to reveal our reception and AND ceremony venue locations, but first I want to navigate you all through the most difficult decision Emin and I have had to make so far. In my last blog, I wrote about the three venues Emin and I first went to see: Metropol Banquet, Legacy Ballroom, and Vertigo. Since Emin and I have seen more than 20 venues I decided to do a quick recap on some of the venues and then reveal our final choice. Do you think you can guess which venue we chose before the final reveal? Good luck.
