Hey Harsanik readers. I’m so glad that I FINALLY, after two years of being engaged, got to have a celebration that is marriage related! On March 3rd, I got to celebrate my bridal shower. As many of you know I lagged planning my bridal shower until the very last minute, but I have to say that it was the best shower ever.
My theme for the shower was all centered around my mom’s engagement dress and a LOVE letter design that I was in love with from a photo on Pinterest. Because Pearl Banquet Hall was so modern I decided the best design idea would be to make everything silver/mirrored and all different shades of pink. This ended up being the most beautiful idea ever.
On the day of my shower, I woke up extremely early to do my mom’s makeup before I went to my own appointments. This took me a little longer than expected so I got to my hair appointment a bit late. I got my hair done with my aunt who owns Marina’s Hair Studio on Glenoaks. She has been doing my hair and my mom’s hair for decades. She did a beautiful vintage updo that matched perfectly with my dress. I was very confident in what she was going to do because she always does a great job with my hair. I trust her and let her do whatever she thinks will look good.
My next appointment was for makeup with Rob Sargsyan. Those who know me know I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to anything that has to do with my face. From facials to professional makeup looks, I like to do it all on my own. I have a great esthetician named Almara who I went to to get a special bridal facial. She gave me the glow I needed to make sure my makeup was flawless, but I was still crazy nervous about my appointment with Rob. I have never gotten my makeup done by a professional. I am really talented when it comes to doing makeup; it is my greatest passion. Therefore, I don’t trust anyone to touch my face with a brush. I found Rob on Instagram and he was the ONLY person where I liked his work. Most people don’t understand that one look cannot be used on multiple people’s faces, but Rob had a special way of making all his clients look like themselves. I had decided to give Rob a shot to see if maybe I could use him for my wedding. I was BEYOND surprised at how much I liked my makeup when Rob was done. It wasn’t a look I would ever try on my own, but it was fabulous. Very simple and smoky. He made my eyes pop, and my skin flawless! I was so happy and felt absolutely beautiful. Sadly, Rob didn’t have any appointments available for my wedding, but I wasn’t that bummed out because I know I can do my own makeup just as good as he did.
Once I was done with hair and makeup I rushed to my venue to get everything ready. I managed to get there right on time. My vendors all showed up at the exact same time. Before I had even gotten there, Petals LA had already shown up and delivered my centerpieces. They were absolutely stunning and exactly what I had wanted. I started setting up with the help of my mom. We put out the LOVE letters I had made under the table. I brought cute jewelry boxes, which I used to hold the macaroons I ordered from Choco G Beige Bites. I used my pink and silver toaster, tea kettle, and mixer as design elements and I put a framed photo of my mom on her engagement day on the table as a special touch. Everything looked absolutely perfect. Roobina’s Cake delivered my cake WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. When the delivery guy walked in with my cake I was actually speechless. Everyone was laughing at me because of my reaction. Roobina really brought my idea to life and it was the show-stopping design at my shower. Once we were done I got dressed and met Roman (I am RTG) and Tigran (My Forever Media) on the dance floor for my photoshoot.
I LOVED working with Roman and Tigran. Honestly, they were the funniest and most creative team. They made me feel very natural and comfortable. Throughout the whole shower, they were very alert and made sure to capture all my special moments without me having to ask. I think by the end of the shower everyone knew Roman’s name because he kept being called over for photos by my guests. He was so nice and treated my guests like they were the star of the shower. He took everyone’s picture and didn’t once say no to someone.
My DJ, DJ Sevag, was special to another level. He was just so pleasant to be around! He communicated with my best friend Tara, who was the MC, throughout the whole shower. They both made sure we kept to our schedule and didn’t stray too far from our timeline. The music was absolutely incredible. Not one complaint, EVER! Every single one of my guests said they loved my DJ. I am so happy that we hired DJ Sevag for our wedding as well. Overall, those three vendors were probably the reason I was able to enjoy my shower to the fullest. I didn’t feel like I needed to worry about anything because they had it all covered.
My shower was absolutely incredible. I felt so beautiful in my mom’s engagement dress which had been altered by Collection by Emma. I never wanted to take the dress off. Many of my guests said they hadn’t been to such a fun shower in a long time. We danced, played games, and I even performed a dance for my guests as a special thank you for taking time out of the day to celebrate with me.
During my shower, Emin and all the groomsmen were at his house, which was a few blocks over, partying it up. They came to the banquet hall towards the end of the event. I don’t know why but I was so nervous about seeing Emin that I started shaking. Tigran was laughing at me while capturing the whole thing on camera. When Emin walked in I was so happy I didn’t know what to do; I kind of just stood there. It was such an amazing sight to see him and all our closest cousins walking and dancing in together. When Emin first spotted me, his whole face lit up and his jaw dropped. He gave me a kiss and the first thing he said was, “Oh my God you look absolutely beautiful.” It felt like we were on our first date. I got all giddy and had butterflies in my stomach. We danced with all our guests and bridal party and then had a moment to ourselves to slow dance together. It was a wonderful moment. When the event came to an end, Roman took some time to take photos of me and Emin while my bridal party and mom cleaned up some of our stuff.
Most people told me that my shower would pass by so quickly that I wouldn’t know where the time went, but I honestly felt like I experienced every single minute of my shower to the fullest. I thought that I would end up being like a bridezilla and want to control every last minute, but I was actually the opposite. I let it all go and didn’t care what happened. We ran out of champagne halfway through the shower and I just let it be. My dress's zipper popped open right before Emin walked in and luckily my grandma brought a needle and some thread and my cousin and aunt were able to sew it back shut. There was so much more that went wrong, but I honestly didn’t let anything upset me or ruin my day. I just wanted to enjoy myself. This really prepared me for my wedding because I was really nervous that I would be really uptight on that day, but I realized it’s much easier to just let it all go and enjoy it all for what it is.
My advice to brides would be to just enjoy your day regardless of what event it is. Nothing is going to be perfect, something will go wrong. But honestly, who cares? You are the only person who will realize it and if you don’t care it won’t be a big deal. I messed up during my dance performance and I just kept smiling and made something up on the spot. Not one person noticed it because I didn’t care to make it a big deal. Just enjoy your event to the fullest because once it is over you can only relive it through your memories and some photos and video. That is another thing. I know most people don’t get video coverage of a short event like a bridal shower, but I would highly recommend it. So many funny and incredible things happened at my shower and I’m so so so excited to see it all on video. My cousins went absolutely nuts when they saw the video camera and they acted like complete clowns. It was beyond hilarious. It’s worth the extra cost if you can manage it.
My bridal shower was one of the best days of my life and now that it is over I can finally start the countdown to my wedding. I am so confident that my wedding is going to be a blast because of how well my shower went.
That is all for now, happy planning!
