TALAR'S STORY: PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION

As we started looking for photoshoot locations for our wedding day, there were many options but also many restrictions. Serj and I had very different opinions as to where to take our wedding day photos. He wanted a garden-like location but I wanted a structure. We searched several places, keeping in mind that our ceremony is in Pasadena, and our reception, in Glendale.

CHRISTINE'S STORY: BOOKING OUR HONEYMOON

Victor and I knew that no matter where we went on our honeymoon, we would incorporate our culture and experience a new place to see together. We hoped to have the opportunity to experience the countries from which our families come from together one day.

Our good friend, Hrant Vartzbedian, invited Victor to join him and AGBU, the largest Armenian non-profit organization for a SARF dinner. Victor purchased a few raffle tickets. The grand prize was airfare to Armenia. A few weeks later we were absolutely shocked when Hrant told us that Victor had actually won the grand prize!

TALAR'S STORY: BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES

All I ever knew about my bridesmaid's dresses was that they had to be the color mint. Keeping this in mind, two of my bridesmaids and I happened to be in downtown one day and decided to just peek and see what dresses may be available. We walked into a store, and I saw a particular dress hanging on a mannequin. I fell in love with the look and asked to see it in mint. My friends tried on the dress in mint and although I thought it was pretty, it definitely was hard to picture five girls in that dress in that color.

TALAR'S STORY: LET THERE BE CAKE!

It seems as though wedding cakes have become a sort of competition: how many tiers, how many flavors, the design, etc. I've even seen some upside down, albeit beautiful, cakes. I knew that I always wanted a smaller cake, something simple yet elegant, plain yet delicious. So naturally, I started my search, like most others, on Pinterest. I searched and searched and never found a cake that I fell in love with. I even put Serj to work to find a design he liked, and well, he came back with a Batman cake!

CHRISTINE'S STORY: CHOOSING A PHOTOGRAPHER

I met Vic from Vic Studios at the Harsanik Bridal Show. My mom, cousin and I spent a lot of time at Vic's booth mesmerized over his many albums. All three of us were in love with his photos.

I wasn't sure I wanted to call Vic at first. His photos were more than extraordinary. I was afraid they would come with a hefty price tag. A couple weeks after the show I gave Vic a call in the spur of the moment. He invited me to his office so we could discuss pricing and look at more samples of his work.

TALAR'S STORY: WEDDING INVITATIONS

I've always wanted my invitations to be unique and different. I used Harsanik.com's wedding directory and looked up a few vendors. After meeting with a couple, I was given a recommendation to contact Creative Works Designs. I e-mailed Sherry and immediately set an appointment. When I arrived to her adorable shop in Burbank, there were so many samples, and different options and every single one caught my attention.

CHRISTINE'S STORY: CHOOSING A WEDDING CAKE

For the last couple weeks, I've been researching wedding cake shops. I requested quotes from a couple of different vendors in order to help make a decision.  After all the research, the one that stood out to me was Cake Studio LA. Sonia designed the cake I loved while maintaining my budget.

Cake Studio's designs are unlike any other but that's only half of what makes her cakes so desired. When she sent us her menu we had such a hard time deciding on the four we would try. Everything sounded so delicious. At the end we decided on Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Mocha-licious, Praline Cloud and Strawberry Short Cake.

TALAR'S STORY: MORNING OF THE WEDDING

Based on Armenian tradition, often the morning of the wedding day becomes it's own spectacle. The way I understand or know it to be is that Serj, his family and ushers will be getting ready and essentially pre-partying at our home. I will be getting ready at my parent's house with my mom, sister-in-law, aunts, family and friends. Then, once Serj and his group are ready, they will make their way to my parent's house where the morning festivities will begin.
