Liana was only 15 years old when she first met Tadeh. But it wasn't until a few years later when the two went to a Hollywood nightclub that the couple reunited and realized they were destined to be together. Their love for each other has withstood time and just a few months ago, Tadeh made Liana's birthday wish come true by proposing! We caught up with Liana and she told us the story of how they first met, then reunited, and exactly how Tadeh proposed.
Let's start off with a brief introduction of you and Tadeh.
Where should I start? Tadeh has always been a man's man. He is this tough, independent do-it-all but he's actually the most romantic man in the whole world! I'm very kind, loving and bubbly and I think that I level Tadeh out with his seriousness.
They say opposites attract! So how did you and Tadeh meet?
We first met when I was 15 and he was 16, at a friend’s party. My first impression of Tadeh was that he was very different. I mean he had come to a party with headphones on leaning against the wall listening to his own music when there was a DJ! I had heard of Tadeh and knew about him but I wanted to get to know him more. I didn't think that would happen at this party because, as I always to joke to Tadeh about, he was too cool for me to approach him, but somehow we ended up talking and by the end of the night Tadeh asked for my phone number.
On our first date, Tadeh took me to the movies to see "The Hulk". All I can remember from the whole date was that when he hugged me I didn’t want to let go. We started briefly dating. Things were good, but after a few months of dating, we went our separate ways. We always stayed in touch through social media. He would message me every now and then and ask if we could hang out, but I was so busy with school that it was really hard for me to make time for anyone.
After I had just graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, I remember a day when I got 3 missed calls from the same number. I don’t pick up numbers I am not familiar with, but it was odd that the same number called me 3 times. Then I got a text message asking if this was Liana. I didn't know who it was but responded with, "Yes." That was when I found out that it was Tadeh calling me. I was very shocked. He asked me if I wanted to hang out with him and I agreed, so that night we went to a club called Avalon in Hollywood. Even with loud EDM music playing, and everyone dancing, Tadeh and I were on the dance floor talking to each other. That’s when I knew he was my forever. Tadeh always says that was when he knew as well. We both felt something extraordinary that night and we have been inseparable since.
So sweet that you two found your way back to each other! What's something extra special about your relationship?
The special thing about our relationship is that from day one we have referred to one another as "Beauty and the Beast" which is a "tale as old as time". Upon our many years together, Tadeh always bought me red roses because they are my favorite, and sticking with our “Beauty and the Beast” characters he always tells me I’m his single red rose, standing out from every other rose out there. He even got me the enclosed glass that the rose is in!
So how did Tadeh propose?
Tadeh proposed on my birthday, November 19, 2018. Since I had a party the weekend before I just wanted to have some BBQ with my family at my house. Something low key and relaxed. Tadeh hadn’t told anyone that he was going to propose to me that night. When Tadeh and I were on our way to my house, my oldest sister called and told me she wouldn't be able to come tonight. After I told Tadeh he asked me to stop at a market so he can pick up a few things. Little did I know he was calling my sister and convincing her to come over so that she wouldn't miss the proposal.
When we got to my house, I started prepping the food and helping my mom with everything. I didn’t know it at the time but Tadeh had purchased a special bottle of alcohol “Blue Label” and was outside having a drink with my dad and asking for my hand in marriage. After we had everything set up, we had dinner and talked at the table. When we were done Tadeh kept insisting that he was ready for the cake. I thought this was odd, but I started to clean up the table and bring out the cake and desserts. Once we were done, I went and stood behind the cake. Tadeh came and stood next to me and everyone started singing the birthday song. I made a wish and blew out my candles. We started posing for pictures; during this time, without me even noticing, Tadeh was trying to take the ring out of his pocket! Tadeh then told me that I made my wish and blew out the candles too fast and to do it again. My sister also said she didn't catch it on camera so I should go slow. So they relit the flames on the candles and right as I was able to blow out the candles, slowly this time, Tadeh told me to make a deep wish and I heard my dad says, "Make a nice big wish." Little did I know Tadeh was standing behind me with the ring. At this point, everyone knew he was proposing, but me! That is when Tadeh grabs my hand and said he wants to make my wish come true. At that moment I noticed the ring. Tadeh asked me if I would make him the happiest man alive and if I would marry him. I was in so much shock. Of course I said YES and hugged Tadeh so tight I didn't want to let go. That had been my wish for many years and finally, he made it come true in the best way ever!
How romantic! Tell us about the ring. How did he know what you wanted?
My ring is simply beautiful and stunning! It is a round diamond, with a halo around it, and diamonds all around the band. I’ve had my eyes set on either a cushion cut ring with a halo or a round ring with a halo and being together for 6+ years, we have discussed rings and what I would like for a while. I had shown him pictures of these two styles and I told him I would love either. Lately, I kind of had my heart set on the round one so it worked out perfectly. He did such a fantastic job picking the perfect ring!
So what are the plans? Have you started wedding planning?
We are planning for an engagement party within the next 4 months. Right now we are at the stage of selecting a venue and seeing what date to pick. I had always told Tadeh that our engagement party will be “Beauty and the Beast” themed, meaning I would use the “tale as old as time” song as our first dance and our color scheme will be red, black and gold with red roses everywhere.
We are aiming for our wedding to be in a year and a half, and we are looking into venues for that as well. We have a really large family from both sides so sure enough we won't be less than 400 people so we have to find somewhere amazing to accommodate our vision of pure magic. I want to have an all-white wedding and possibly keep some of the "Beauty and the Beast" theme as well.
Such a romantic story! We love that Tadeh and Liana have known each other for over 11 years, and they have experienced so much together. We're thrilled they are finally engaged and preparing to tie the knot. We can't wait to follow their love story with their engagement party and wedding. If you and your fiancé were high school sweet hearts or childhood friends, we'd love to hear from you! Contact us and share your story for a chance to be featured!
