Diana's Story: Our Wedding Day Flowers

Written by . Posted in Diana's Story

Can't believe our wedding has already passed! Garen and I recently got our wedding photos so I can't wait to share my wedding blog post soon. Until then, I'll start off with my favorite wedding topic - flowers! As a woman who absolutely loves flowers, my wedding flowers were a top priority. My amazing wedding florist, Giah Events Studio, and I worked for months on using the perfect flowers and other decor to create the right ambiance for both the wedding ceremony and reception.

For the ceremony, I wanted classical elegance. The ceremony flowers were mostly composed of the flowers carried by/worn on the bridal party. In our case, the bridal party consisted of the bride, groom, kavor (best man), kavorkeen (maid-of-honor), two flower girls, a ring boy, and a candle boy. I wanted to keep colors very minimal so that everything would look elegant and streamlined. My bouquet was composed of some of my favorite flowers, including garden roses and ranunculuses in shades of ivory. Garen’s boutonniere was a single white ranunculus. For the flower girls, I accented their tulle ivory dresses with flower crowns composed of white spray roses. The ring boy and candle boy also both had white spray roses for their boutonnieres. As my kavorkeen (maid-of-honor) was in a gorgeous deep green dress and I felt that ivory flowers would look too choppy next to her colorful dress, her bouquet was composed of deep purple lisianthus. The kavor (best man) wore a matching boutonniere. We were all so impressed with the ceremony flowers - the colors were perfect, the bouquets were large and composed of just the right flowers, and the quality of flowers were impeccable.

With my ceremony flowers being elegant and streamlined, I wanted to have a little more fun with the reception and decided to create the feel and look of a romantic garden. To achieve this, my florist and I focused on incorporating vibrant colors and dimension. Each table had tall large centerpieces set on gold candelabras.  The centerpieces themselves were intentionally imperfect domes filled with roses, ranunculuses, dahlias, and lisianthus in vibrant hues of red and pink. For dimension, red hydrangeas were used to add volume, deep red coxcombs provided a velvety texture, and hanging amaranths and lush greens throughout provided a whimsical feel. We also decided to add about 10-15 candles of varying heights on each table.

We also incorporated flowers into our cake design. When we had met with Cake Studio LA, we decided to include flowers atop the first and last tiers of our wedding cake. Giah Events Studio provided all the flowers for Cake Studio LA, including a thick row of astilbe for lining the bottom of the cake. Our wedding cake was not only delicious, it also perfectly fit with our wedding color scheme and theme.

The end-product was NOOR's Sofia Ballroom filled with shades of seductive scarlets, piercing pinks, and greens galore. My inspiration for a romantic garden had been executed to perfection.

I could not have been happier with the outcome of the wedding flowers. The talented team of florists at Giah Events Studio really went above and beyond my expectations!
