This is Marineh and I am one of the co-founders of Harsanik. On August 7, 2010, I was so blessed to get married to the most amazing man. We had a beautiful Armenian wedding at Taglyan and it turned out to be a magical day!
Throughout the past year, I shared my wedding planning adventures in my blog called A Bride's Story, including picking the venue, the dress, the food and cake tastings, and other fun wedding stories. Now, a few months after the wedding, I am excited to share with you all the photo and video highlights from our wedding day over a series of blogs!
Hi again - this is Marineh, co-founder of Harsanik.com, the #1 guide for planning an Armenian wedding! Often times, brides email me asking for suggestions for hair & makeup artists, as well as ideas for hair accessories. There are many great vendors listed on Harsanik.com under the Hair, Makeup & Beauty and Bridal Accessories categories. So I recommend browsing through our directory to find the right vendor who fits your style to cater to your Armenian wedding.
I’m happy to share with you who I chose to work with for my wedding hair & makeup, and my unique headpiece. Edward Jacob was my hair & makeup artist, and he works in the Capelli Salon located on North Brand in Glendale, CA. I first tried Edward Jacobs for my engagement party, and I fell in love with his work! He does a phenomenal job with both hair and makeup, and he focuses on making you look naturally beautiful.
After my engagement, I went back to Edward for my bridal shower, and of course my wedding day. Edward was so amazing to work with! He is a fun, young guy and he knows how to make you feel relaxed on your special day. He is also very creative with hair, and he was able to come up with a beautiful style to go along with my beautiful headpiece!
Speaking of my headpiece, I was so thrilled to have picked Addicted 2B Jeweled to design my wedding headpiece! Knarik from Addicted did an amazing job designing a unique and stunning 3-piece headpiece customized to my preference. When I met with Knarik, I told her I was looking for something a little different. She showed me a picture of her new bridal couture line that she was working on, and I immediately fell in love with the style. I worked with Knarik to customize the headpiece to be exactly what I wanted: a 3-piece design, each shaped like a leaf, wrapped in chiffon fabric, draped with large Swarowski crystals, and touched up with a bit of lace. The headpiece was beautiful and I had so many people all day asking or commenting about my headpiece from Addicted 2B Jeweled.
Thank you both Edward Jacob and Knarik from Addicted 2B Jeweled for the amazing work!
UPDATE: My headpiece is not like a traditional Armenian headpiece. On August 20, 2011, Kim Kardashian wore what is being referred to as an "Armenian headpiece" on her wedding day. Kim's headpiece was beautiful and very traditional, with tear-shaped diamonds hanging over her forehead. Check out our Bridal Accessories category to find many vendors that can re-create Kim's look for your wedding day!

Events has partnered with Anoush Banquets and Catering to create an all inclusive package for the Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles.
Located in the heart of Downtown, this former Archdiocese cathedral offers all of the grandeur and opulence that was intended when it was built in 1876. After undergoing a multi-million dollar restoration, the cathedral now lives on as Vibiana, an unparalleled events venue.
The Vibiana offers 2 spaces including the Main Hall and Garden Courtyard and is perfect for intimate gatherings of 100 guests or platinum weddings of 500 guests. One of the best features of the Vibiana is that it is an open space. This allows couples to have input on every aspect of their big day and create a truly custom production.
And if you haven't seen the Vibiana yet, check out some photos from recent weddings to get an idea of this beautiful space! All photos are by Duke Photography.

It was the gasp heard around the world. The moment Kate Middleton stepped out in front of her admiring public to unveil her ivory and satin Alexander McQueen gown, fashion editors and commentators united in praise.
The blushing bride looked stunning and elegant in a long-sleeve lace, ivory and satin gown with a flattering V neckline and just over 8-foot-long train (2 meters 70 centimeters), an underskirt of silk tulle trimmed with Cluny lace, and a simple veil made of layers of soft ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers and a tiara. The dress designed by Sarah Burton for British fashion house Alexander McQueen is simply breathtaking and truly fit for a princess.
Kate did keep to tradition with something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Kate’s “something new” were her earrings. They were a gift from her parents based on the family’s new coat of arms. The earrings were diamond set oak leaves with a pear-shaped drop and a diamond acorn.
The bride’s “something borrowed” as well as “something old” was the 1936 diamond Cartier Halo tiara from the Queen. And finally there was an unseen piece of blue ribbon sewn into the lining of the dress.
Sarah Burton created a fairytale of a dress working with Kate to design a dress that would capture Kate’s essence. The dress married the best of bridal traditions with the very best of high fashion. With its necessary long sleeves and bustle of over-sized pleats towards the back of the dress, the dress stayed true to Alexander McQueen while encompassing Kate’s simple and elegant style.
The dress really is fit for a future (Mc)Queen!

Wow! What a spectacular wedding ceremony! Everything was absolutely gorgeous! First, we were impressed by the creative decision by Prince William and Kate Middleton to place maple trees in the inside of Westminster Abbey to represent strength and resilience in marriage.
Next, it was amazing to see all the guests arrive hours before the wedding - and everyone was looking stunning, especially the women with the elegant hats. Next, we were so excited to watch Prince William and his brother Prince Harry enter the church, both dressed in military uniforms. They were soon followed by Queen Elizabeth, who entered the church looking as classy as ever.
And then came the moment we were all waiting for - seeing Kate Middleton in her wedding gown! Kate looked absolutely stunning, with a gorgeous dress designed by famous British designer, Sarah Burton. Sarah Burton was appointed as the creative director of Alexander McQueen after the designer's death in 2010. Kate's dress was a full skirted dress with lace covering her arms and shoulders. Her veil was delicate and her tiara was simple yet stunning.
The ceremony was beautiful, and Princess Catherine looked so classy, elegant, and happy through the entire ceremony. The ceremony lasted just over an hour, ending just after 4am Pacific time.
If anyone was watching the guests walk into the Westminster Abbey for the Royal Wedding, you must have noticed the big trend - HATS! Nearly all the women were wearing hats - some simple, some glamorous, and some outrageous! Victoria Beckham probably had one of the most unique hats. We're still trying to figure out how her hat was staying on top of her head!

One of the most anticipated weddings of the century is here! Prince William and Kate Middleton will be getting married on Friday, April 29th at the Westminster Abbey in England.
As much of a production Armenian weddings tend to be, they are nothing close to the Royal Wedding! We were surprised to see the guest count was 1,900 people!! Can you imagine that large of a wedding?!
And you thought Armenian invitations can be gaudy? Well I guess when you are part of the Royal Family, it's OK to have die stamped gold on your invitation.
That's pretty much where the similarities come to an end. The Royal Wedding will start at 11am on Friday (I guess there's no pre-party at the soon-to-be Princess' parent's house). Kate Middleton has decided that she would prefer arriving by car instead of the traditional carriage. However, the couple plans to leave Westminster Abbey in a beautiful and picturesque carriage.
This week we are excited to share with you a very talented florist – Design by Gilda!
Gilda has been in the floral design business for over 10 years. Her unique, sophisticated and innovative designs always leave her clients beyond satisfied.
In a recent summer wedding in August 2010 at the Palladio, Design by Gilda created a beautiful look using over 5000 stems of flowers! She mixed 1000 stems of extra tall white calla lilies, 2000 stems of white hydrangeas, and 2000 stems of vendela roses.
The design creatively mixed flowers, fabric and rhinestones. The centerpieces on each table were designed with 9 glass cylinder vases wrapped in silk taffeta fabric, Swarovski rhinestones, and strings.
You can see more of Design by Gilda's arrangements by checking out her website and Facebook page.
